Stephen personally embraced Yoga as therapy in 1997. His teaching began in 2000 when his teacher left to study in India for four months and honored and amazed Stephen by asking him to teach in her absence. In the last few years Doug Keller has inspired and deepened my understanding of Therapeutic Yoga and how to teach it without ego. Elizabeth Barlow, Co-founder of Tulsa Yoga Therapy, has been practicing yoga for 30 years, and has been teaching for 12 years. As a yoga therapist, Elizabeth loves teaching in a way that allows students to find their way through injuries, pain management, and chronic pain. BETH Beth Field has extensive training and practice in Vipassana Meditation, Iyengar Yoga and the associated vedic sciences of Astrology and Ayurveda. Her life’s work, which regularly takes her to India for study under the guidance of notable teachers, is to learn and then to translate these ancient disciplines into profound tools for navigating modern life. She is certified as a Yoga Instructor at the highest level recognized by the Yoga Alliance, E-RYT500. KRISTINE As a practicing healthcare provider (Pediatric Occupational Therapy) and teacher. I was drawn to the therapeutic, individualized and safe practice of the Viniyoga tradition. I have a special interest in Sensory Integration, neurology and brain function. I am certified in“Yoga for the Special Child” and “The Listening Program”. I have also completed the training for RECESS, a non-profit program for kids in underserved schools in the Tulsa area. I am pursuing advanced certification as a Viniyoga therapist. (See www.viniyoga.com.) NATASHA Natasha is a certified RECESS/Yoga ED instructor. RECESS (a non-profit organization based in Tulsa) stands for Resource Education for Calming, Energizing, Self-Awareness and Self-Regulation and provides Tulsa children with resources and tools to manage emotional and physical health, thereby impacting lifetime health and wellness. Yoga Ed is a nationally recognized educational program that combines a science based exploration of the body, mind and the self with the exercise system of Yoga to support and enhance learning, health and personal responsibility. JESSICA Jessica is a certified yoga teacher at the 200 hour level, and is currently pursuing a 500 hour certification. She received her training in the tradition of Baba Hari Dass, at the Mount Madonna Institute in California. She continues to facilitate their teacher training program each summer. Jessica believes that yoga is for everyone, and is excited and honored to share these practices. She is grateful for the many teachers throughout the world who have inspired and encouraged her, especially her first yoga teachers, Tom and Nicole Tobias. After spending 7 years away from Tulsa, she is thrilled to be home, and to have the opportunity to join the Tulsa Yoga Therapy family. |
