STEPHEN Stephen Saunders

Stephen personally embraced Yoga as therapy in 1997.  His teaching began in 2000 when his teacher left to study in India for four months and honored and amazed Stephen by asking him to teach in her absence. He has been privileged to learn Yoga at the feet of some of the world’s truly great teachers.

“I studied with Beth Field for three years in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar.
Beth shared her skills, showed me much patience and is responsible for my becoming a yoga teacher, for which I am so very grateful. Later I studied with Mukanda Stiles, author of “Structural Yoga Therapy”. This work led me to Gary Kraftsow a Yoga master and Director of the American Viniyoga Institute and author of “Yoga for Wellness” and “Yoga for Transformation”.  The last nine years have been full of the most wonderful teachings from other world renowned teachers like John Friend, the charismatic and deeply inspiring founder of Anusara Yoga, and, Aadil Palkhivala, a brilliant and kind man with a wealth of knowledge who has shared it freely and with much humor.   Judith Lasater PhD. a physical therapist and Yoga teacher for 30 years whose deep understanding of the body has been a blessing for me.

Elizabeth Barlow

Elizabeth Barlow, Co-founder of Tulsa Yoga Therapy, has been practicing yoga for 30 years, and has been teaching for 12 years. As a yoga therapist, Elizabeth loves teaching in a way that allows students to find their way through injuries, pain management, and chronic pain.   

She is trained by Namaste' International, a program that teaches yoga in the style of Vanda Scaravelli, and studied with Esther Myers.  In the past 12 years, she has studied with Gary Kraftsow and Judith Hanson Lasater, loving both approaches to yoga therapy.

Elizabeth has been teaching movement to children for many years and is Founder/Director of Resource Education for Calming, Energizing, Self-awareness and Self-regulation (RECESS).  RECESS teaches self-regulation using yoga techniques to both children and adults in schools, shelters, and residential programs. Elizabeth is a Certified Yoga Ed. Instructor and National Trainer. 

As a Certified Massage Therapist of 12 years, Elizabeth is trained in and practices many bodywork modalities to complement the use of Therapeutic Yoga, including, Naturopathic Manipulation, Craniosacral Therapy, Touch for Health, trigger point therapy, and rehabilitative movement.

Bio:

Sonia Marshall began practicing Yoga in 2011. After attending her first class at Tulsa Yoga Therapy, she knew she wanted to share the benefits of the practice of Yoga with others. She studies with Stephen Saunders, Janet and Victor Parachin, and Doug Keller. Their knowledge, experience and passion for Yoga is a constant inspiration to her. She is also completing a 200 hr. Yoga Teacher Certification in Hatha Yoga from Yoga Spirit Academy in Tulsa. "Yoga has helped me manage chronic pain, and improve the quality of my life on many levels. It is an honor and a joy to share this practice with others."
